From 2005 to 2009 I designed the invitations for BijlmAir, an artist-in-residency programme initiated by CBK Zuidoost and SMBA. BijlmAir gave me the freedom to design a series that needn’t function as part of some larger housestyle. Before each exhibition, i.e. towards
the end of the residency, I would meet the artist who was working in the studio at the time;
I then tried to design an invitation that fit his/her work.

I gave myself the following restrictions: the invitations would be sent in an A5 format,
the body text would be set in Bookman, and the title of the exhibition would each time
be set in a different typeface – one that made a link to the artist’s work.
